Regional Facility Provides Needed Sewer Capacity in Southern Gwinnett County

Atlanta, GA – November 18, 2009 – Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading multi-disciplinary design and consulting firm to the built environment, is pleased to announce the successful completion and start-up of the new Lower Big Haynes Pumping Station in Gwinnett County, GA.  The regional pumping facility, one of the first of its kind in Gwinnett County, is part of a system which includes a new gravity sewer line, force main and on-site storage.  The pumping station provides the necessary sewer capacity for southern Gwinnett County.  It is designed to pump up to 25 million gallons per day of wastewater approximately 34 miles to the F. Wayne Hill Water Reclamation Center.  The system also provides flexibility for the County to pump to additional facilities in order to optimize reliability and minimize operational costs.  The pumping facility was designed and constructed to be easily expanded to meet future capacity requirements.

Extension Project to Improve Congestion and Connect US31E Northeast of Downtown Gallatin

Nashville, TN – November 3, 2009 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading multi-disciplinary design and consulting firm to the built environment, announces it has been selected by the City of Gallatin, Tennessee to provide transportation planning, environmental and design services for a 1.69 mile widening and extension of Albert Gallatin Avenue/Hatten Track Road in Gallatin.  Transportation services include the preparation of a Transportation Planning Report identifying possible extension corridors, the environmental assessment of those alternatives and ultimately the actual roadway and bridge design of the selected alignment.  The construction of the new roadway will aid in alleviating congestion in downtown Gallatin by providing a northern Bypass to allow SR 109 traffic to connect with US 31E northeast of downtown Gallatin.  GS&P will coordinate with TDOT’s Local Programs Office during the development of the project as the project is funded with Federal Surface Transportation Program funds administered through TDOT.

Knoxville City Council Passes Resolution in Support of Future Roadway Improvements which Address Safe and Efficient Transportation for All Roadway Users

Study Provides Prioritized Implementation Plan for Improvements along Highway 92 Corridor

62,000-Square-Foot Expansion and Renovation Project Adds Surgery Suite and Expands Support Services

Denver, CO –June 24, 2009 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, is pleased to announce the opening of a new Spine and Total Joint Center at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, Colorado for which the firm provided design services.  The 62,000-square-foot expansion and renovation project includes the addition of seven Ortho/Spine operating rooms, nine post anesthesia care units (PACUs), 13 pre-op/post-op rooms and all required support spaces for a new surgery center.  The facility's existing central sterilization and storage (CSS) and lab spaces have also been expanded.  A community open house was held on June 18 and the facility will begin accepting patients June 24.

New Facility to be Located in Prince George County, Virginia

Richmond, Va. – June 17, 2009 – Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, announces that bridging documents for the design and construction of a new campus for Rolls-Royce are complete.  The new Rolls-Royce site, known as Crosspointe, will manufacture, assemble and test a range of aerospace components and products.  Located on 1,000 acres in Prince George County, VA, this new facility will be the largest Rolls-Royce site by area in North America, with ample space to accommodate suppliers' co-location in the future.  It is also the first Rolls-Royce site built from-the-ground-up in the US.  The bridging documents developed by GS&P detail specific design guidelines for the first set of buildings that will be located on the initial 60-acre parcel of the property.

LEED-Registered TMC Will Serve as Communications Hub for County’s Advanced Traffic Management System

Atlanta, Ga. – April 22, 2009 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, announces the design is complete for the Cobb County Transportation Management Center (TMC) in Marietta, Georgia. The 25,000-square-foot facility addition will house the operations responsible for managing Cobb County's Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS).  The TMC was designed according to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards and is registered with the US Green Building Council (USGBC).  Construction is slated to begin in May 2009 and the facility is expected to be fully operational in 2010.

Voluntary Program Supports AIA Goal of Carbon-Neutral Buildings by the Year 2030

Nashville, Tenn. – April 21, 2009 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, announces it has signed on to the American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2030 Commitment program and its goal of carbon-neutral buildings by the year 2030.  The program is a voluntary commitment for AIA components, member firms and other entities in the built environment which asks organizations to make a pledge, develop multi-year action plans and implement steps towards attaining the organization's carbon-neutral goal.  An announcement of firms who have committed to the program will be made at the 2009 AIA National Convention scheduled for April 30-May 2 in San Francisco.

12.5 Mile Project to Improve Mobility and Safety on Sugarloaf Parkway in Gwinnett County, GA

Atlanta, Ga. – April 14, 2009 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national engineering, architecture and planning firm, announces the design of a 12.5- mile intelligent transportation system (ITS) for the Gwinnett County Department of Transportation is complete.  The design calls for installation of a fiber optic communications network and associated ITS technology, including closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, along Sugarloaf Parkway, a principal arterial roadway in Gwinnett County between Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and SR 20/Grayson Highway.  This ITS will be incorporated into the GDOT NaviGAtor system via connectivity to the County's Traffic Control Center (TCC) to further improve the mobility and safety on Gwinnett County roadways.

GS&P-Designed Patient Tower Addition Helps Meet Growing Demand for Services in Fairhope, Alabama

Mobile, Ala. – March 16, 2009 – Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, is pleased to celebrate the opening of a 130,500-square-foot patient tower addition for Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama.   The GS&P-designed addition is a four-floor plan that includes an emergency department, medical/surgical nursing units and is designed to accommodate 64 beds with shell space for an additional 32 beds.  This is the latest project resulting from GS&P's 10-year relationship with Infirmary Health System, the owner of Thomas Hospital.

Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority Aims to Improve Safety and Efficiency for Passengers

Nashville, Tenn. – March 9, 2009 – Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, is pleased to announce it has been selected as part of the design/build team led by Messer Construction Company to provide architecture and design services for a new in-line explosives detection system (EDS) at Nashville International Airport (BNA) for the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority.  The project is aimed at improving and streamlining operational activities with regards to safety and security of the baggage screening process as well increasing public space in the ticket lobby. 

40-Mile Intelligent Transportation System to Enhance Mobility in Pensacola Metro Region

Chipley, Fla. –March  4, 2009 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national engineering, planning, architecture and interior design firm, is pleased to announce it has been contracted to support design services for an Intelligent Transportation System being developed along approximately 40 miles of I-10 and I-110 in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties in Florida for the Florida Department of Transportation.  Contracted by TransCore ITS, LLC, GS&P will also assist in providing construction engineering and inspection coordination services as well as site and architectural guidance for a Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC) to be located in Pensacola.  The project aims to enhance the mobility, efficiency and safety of the freeway system in the Pensacola metro region.

Design for TDOT SmartWay Memphis Project Recognized for Excellence in Inaugural Awards

The award was presented at the annual Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers banquet on Thursday, February 19.

Project to Aid DPU in Seeking Long-Term Environmental Regulatory Compliance and Reduction of the Overall Environmental Impact
