Showcase One: A Collection of Recent Work Unveiled

Inaugural Edition Highlights Firm's Unique Ability to Serve Wide Variety of Industries and Client Types in the Built Environment

Nashville, Tenn. - November 19, 2008 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners unveils Showcase One, a collection of project stories of recently completed work which highlight the firm's ability to provide outstanding architecture, engineering, interior design and planning services across a variety of disciplines and markets.  The compilation is part of a firmwide effort to recognize good design and to encourage and challenge GS&P employees to discuss the question “what is good design?” internally.  Across all GS&P disciplines the word 'design' carries various meaning, however each discipline and market has a clear focus on design's ability to help clients achieve success.

GS&P Wins "Project of the Year" for Wal-Mart Nashville South
Nashville, Tenn. - Nov 13, 2008

American Society of Civil Engineers-Tennessee Section Honors Firm for Outstanding Engineering

Nashville, Tenn. - November 13, 2008 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, announces it has been awarded "Project of the Year" from the Tennessee Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers for outstanding engineering related to Wal-Mart's Nashville South store relocation and expansion. Relocation efforts for one of the highest performing Wal-Mart stores in the country based on sales per square-foot included site planning and development of 43 acres with a total vertical relief of 110 feet across the site and accommodating and improving an impaired creek that traversed the site.

University of Louisville Names Michael Sewell 2008 Outstanding Young Engineer

GS&P Transportation Engineer Recognized by J. B. Speed School of Engineering with Annual Award

Cincinnati, Ohio - November 5, 2008 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, announces Michael W. Sewell, P.E., has been recognized by the University of Louisville’s J. B. Speed School of Engineering as the 2008 Outstanding Young Engineer.  An Associate in the firm's Transportation market, Mike received a bachelor of civil engineering and master of engineering degree from the University of Louisville and is recognized for his professional accomplishments since graduation.  He was honored at the University's annual Homecoming Awards Dinner on October 17 as well as during halftime of the UofL homecoming football game on Saturday, October 18.

Tennessee Chapter of American Public Works Association Honors City of Clarksville Streetscape Project

Nashville, Tenn. - November 3, 2008 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, announces the Legion Street improvement project in Clarksville, Tennessee for which the firm provided planning, engineering and construction administration services has been named "Project of the Year" by the Tennessee Chapter of the American Public Works Association.  Designed on behalf of the City of Clarksville, the streetscape project aimed to improve safety, increase pedestrian traffic and encourage business growth in the heart of downtown Clarksville.  The team was recognized for their achievement at the TCAPWA annual awards banquet held on October 13 and is now eligible for entry in the American Public Works Association National Awards competition.

Theatre Putuo Zhoushan Opera House Designed by GS&P

Striking Waterfront Design To Enhance Tourist Destination of Zhejiang Province, China

Nashville, Tenn. - October 8, 2008 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, announces its design for the Theatre Putuo Zhoushan Opera House has been chosen to be constructed in Zhejiang Province southeast of Shanghai, China.  The Opera House is being constructed as part of an engineered peninsula between Zhoushan Island and Mount Putuo and will be situated on the new waterfront in a public garden setting.  The building will be a prominent feature of the new cityscape when viewed from Mount Putuo Island with inspiration for the design being drawn from the sea.

GS&P to Develop Aviation Industry Wayfinding and Signage Guidelines
Nashville, Tenn. - Sep 15, 2008

Uniform Application of Guidelines to Facilitate Safe and Efficient Movement of Passengers

Nashville, Tenn. - September 15, 2008 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, announces its team of environmental graphics and transportation professionals has been awarded a contract from the Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP), a research program managed by the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academies, to develop wayfinding and signage guidelines for airport terminal and landside use.  The resulting reference manual will provide airport operators up-to-date wayfinding and signage guidelines to facilitate the safe and efficient movement of passengers, within each airport and from one airport to another, through uniform application.

Knoxville-Knox County MPC Awards GS&P Contract For Complete Streets Study
Knoxville, Tenn. - Sep 10, 2008

Safe, Balanced Transportation Corridors to Provide Safety, Comfort and Efficient Transportation for All Roadway Users

Knoxville, Tenn. - September 10, 2008 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national planning, architecture, engineering and interior design firm, announces it has been awarded a contract from the Knoxville-Knox County Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC)/Knoxville Regional Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) to conduct a Complete Streets Study for two corridors in the Knoxville region, along with development of guidelines for future complete street projects.  The Complete Streets Study process will engage the public and key stakeholders to develop a vision recommendation for each corridor to guide future improvements for the safety, comfort and efficient transportation of all roadway users.

Design of Tampa General Hospital's Bayshore Pavilion Receives Inaugural "People's Choice" Award

Tampa, Fla. - August 22, 2008 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm announces it has received the inaugural "People's Choice" award in the 2008 Tampa Bay American Institute of Architects Design Awards for its design of Tampa General Hospital Bayshore Pavilion.  The firm was also recognized with a Merit Award for Excellence in Architecture for the design of Richmond International Airport.

Representative Office Established in Shanghai

Nashville, Tenn. - August 20, 2008 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, announces it has formally established a representative office in Shanghai, China.  Following more than seven years of project work in the country, the addition of a Shanghai office furthers GS&P's commitment to providing expert planning and architectural services within various markets to expanding urban communities and businesses throughout China.  The announcement coincides with the construction completion of two projects in China designed by GS&P, Jasper Tower in Shanghai and the Shenzhen Eye Hospital in Shenzhen.
