Gresham, Smith and Partners, as part of the design/build team led by Messer Construction Company, is providing architectural and structural design services for a new in-line explosives detection system (EDS) at Nashville International Airport (BNA) for the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. This project includes the design and installation of two EDS matrices, two Checked Baggage Resolution Areas (CRBRA), and a BHS Control Room and OSR facility. This project will improve and streamline the screening of checked baggage, provide greater customer service and allow the airport to increase the public space in the ticket lobby after removal of the current lobby based EDS equipment. Construction should be transparent to passengers and should not affect the operations of the airport or the airlines.
