Creating nature's classroom. GS&P proudly partnered with the AWF to provide master planning services for their beautiful 340-acre Lanark site. This prime parcel is now home to AWF headquarters, Historic Lanark, and the Alabama Nature Center, which includes 350 acres of forests, fields, streams, wetlands and ponds traversed by five miles of boardwalks and trails. GS&P designed and incorporated an entire suite of signage and wayfinding into the overall development, including landmark gateways, trailblazing guides, botanical identification and interpretive panels. The site, with all of its character and diversity, serves as an outdoor classroom to extend and encourage teaching and learning, all with maximum sensitivity to the natural environment. The environmental graphics program helps to further create a fun filled educational adventure experience for all ages.
