Northwest Arkansas Regional (XNA)
Bentonville, Arkansas
In November 1998, XNA became the third new commercial service airport to open in the U.S. in the previous 25 years. As expected, the airport grew quickly, from slightly more than 300,000 enplanements in 1999 to more than 600,000 in 2007. In anticipation of the need for a concourse addition, GS&P was selected by the Airport Authority to analyze the forecast of passenger traffic and assess peak passenger volumes, airline operations and aircraft fleet mixes. The primary objective was to provide terminal space programs for five-year intervals through 2020, and to investigate concept design solutions for a concourse addition to the existing terminal. GS&P was also tasked with the evaluation of capacity issues in public terminal spaces, including the ticket lobby and counter, baggage claim area, security checkpoint, and concessions.
