Nashville, Tennessee
Adaptive re-use of a historical building. Given the building's high profile and history, the former American Trust Building is one of the most unique and important structures in downtown Nashville. Originally constructed in 1909, the historic building experienced nearly 25 years of vacancy with multiple ownership transitions and more than 10 potential developers. In 2006, GS&P was chosen to renovate and convert the 15-story, 66,000-square-foot building into a hip, boutique-style hotel with complementary retail space - all while incorporating and rehabilitating as many of the historic features of the property as possible.
By imploring innovative design solutions and thoughtful consideration of the existing structures and materials, the GS&P design team was able to meet the client's needs and prepare the building for its new, modern use.
