Make a mountain out of a mole hill. The Dollar General Corporation, due to its rapid growth as one of the nations leading retailers, needed to consolidate its various administrative operations into a single campus location for better control and operating efficiency. After a design competition, GS&P was named the architectural and engineering firm for their new corporate headquarters.
Located on a 39-acre site, the 300,000-square-foot campus is set within an existing hillside, surrounded by a thick population of trees. Phase I includes a two-winged building connected by a central lobby/atrium with a three-level, underground parking garage. Phase II, a 96,000-square-foot, four-level rectangular building atop a four-level parking garage, includes a childcare center, career development center, lifelong learning library, training center, fitness center, employee cafeteria, in-house travel office, and business center.
