Chattanooga, Tennessee
Improvement plan and feasibility study. GS&P worked with TVA to evaluate asset preservation, environmental and energy conservation and space consolidation that would improve the individual workers' experience for their 1.1 million-square-foot Chattanooga Office Complex (COC). Faced with an upcoming lease termination on the building which housed their data center and related support staff, TVA solicited GS&P to conduct a feasibility study and propose recommendations for future decisions concerning staff consolidations and improved facility functions.
GS&P recommended the elimination of supervisor work stations; organizational studies of typical floor plates to improve efficiencies and increase collaboration areas; re-work station layout and orientation within the building; and lower panel heights to support better day-lighting. These recommendations decreased total square footage and energy usage, and the upgrades recommended use best practices for energy conservation and environmental sensitivity. The final report serves as a tool for TVA to make decisions about the various alternatives of consolidating within the COC.
