Birmingham, Alabama
Former grocery site transformed into new model for Charter. Having outgrown their existing building, Charter Communications required a new space that would not only meet their everyday needs, but also a building which represented the company well in the marketplace. GS&P worked with Charter to transform a 36,000-square-foot former grocery store in suburban Birmingham, Alabama into their new headquarters. Facing the challenge of transforming a warehouse into a new corporate headquarters and retail center, GS&P designed a highly functional, yet comfortable space for office workers and retail clients alike. The three major programmatic components of the space included office, retail and warehouse, as all of Charter's service vehicles also operate from this facility.
Under an aggressive timeline, GS&P worked closely with the contractor and landlord to ensure the project was completed on time and within budget. GS&P also collaborated with Charter's marketing and branding department to ensure the Retail and Payment Center communicated the story of Charter as well as their service lines. The Retail Center became the new Charter model, and GS&P has since been retained to design Charter's Retail Centers nationwide.
