Neighborhood YMCA is a family affair. Orange Park's new 36,000-square-foot YMCA is located in the Fleming Island Plantation residential community. Located along the development's main boulevard, the design of the building takes advantage of the community's lake views and allows community residents access to view the facility's activities at the exterior pool and playground area. The facility contains a fitness space, gymnasium, aerobic rooms, climbing wall, locker rooms, administrative offices and support spaces that include a child watch, family center and teen center. Drawing inspiration from the local residential homes, whimsical facade features on the building's exterior were designed and provide outcroppings for the center's reading areas.

This project received the 2005 Award of Design Excellence from the American Institute of Architects.
